NCE Test Prep Workshops

    NCE Workshop Format                           

    The NCE workshop is offered in a 2-day format. This is a review course. Attendees are encouraged to spend additional time in study preparation outside of this workshop. This workshop is designed to help counselors approach the exam realistically and confidently by understanding the structure of the exam and the content it attempts to measure. Attendees will experience an overview of the test and test-taking strategies.

    NCE Exam Format

    The NCE is a computerized exam, comprised of 200 multiple choice questions. Topic areas include: Human Growth and Development, Social and Cultural Foundations, Helping Relationships, Group Work, Career and Lifestyle Development, Appraisal, Research and
    Program Evaluation, Professional Orientation, and Ethics.

    Cancellation Policy. Registrations, cancelled before seven days prior to the workshop, can be refunded minus a $20 administration fee. No refunds can be made seven days prior to the workshop. Workshops may be cancelled or rescheduled due to inadequate registration or other circumstances beyond our control. If IMHCA cancels a workshop due to inadequate registration, you will receive a full refund. IMHCA is not responsible for any loss or damage as a result of substitution, alteration, or cancellation of an event. IMHCA shall assume no liability whatsoever in the event that a workshop is cancelled, rescheduled or postponed due to fortuitous event, Act of God, unforeseen occurrences or any other event that renders performance of this conference impracticable, illegal or impossible. For purposes of this clause, a fortuitous event shall include, but not be limited to: war, fire, labor strike, extreme weather or other emergency. IMHCA will make every effort to offer a substitution event in the case IMHCA cancels because of a fortuitous event or Act of God.

    Presenter
    William Cheshier has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Saybrook Institute in California and Ph.D. in Philosophy from DePaul University in Chicago.  He currently lives in New York City and works as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in his own private practice.

    This NCE workshop is conducted by Lynn Turovetz,  Lynn’s Masters Degree is in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University.  She is a Past-President of ICA, a Past-President of  IMHCA, and the 2001 recipient of the IMHCA Distinguished Service as an Illinois Mental Health Counselor Award.  She is the 2002 recipient of the C.A. Michelman Award for outstanding service from the Illinois Counseling Association.
